Pre-Gig Procrastination
Gig in T-minus 2 hours. Still sitting at work… not really wanting to work anymore, but not quite ready to go to the show yet. It’s quite a bit different being at the office after say 6:30pm these days cause it’s frakin’ dark outside!
So I just have to say, I really like playing the Highway 99 Blues Club. Aside from the typical things that make it a good place to play (nice room, big stage, they have their own sound system and sound person), you just never quite know what’s gonna happen. Typically we’ll have one or two friends show up and sit in, but we’ve had as many as seven people on stage and tonight we may set a new record what with Howlin’ Lane and Ye Olde Angels of Sin on board.
Also, tonight I may actually get a chance to break out the electric guitar. Our buddy Jason plays bass w/ Howlin’ Lane (and also doubles as Adam Clayton in U277) and with him on board I may be able to shirk the “foundational” responsibilities of walkin’ the blues… at least for the sure-to-be-off-the-hook jam session at the end of the night. My blues guitar chops are a bit rusty these days, but heck it’s just the blues baby! Right?!? My fingers should loosen up enough by set three that I’ll be able to throw a few meedley-meedley’s in there!
